What Mitt Romney doesn't want you to know about the Republican Convention

In a recent back-and-forth with President Obama, Mitt Romney came out swinging, promoting American individualism over government aid. An entire session at the Republican National Convention this week will be dedicated to their new slogan: "We Built This!"

Well, it turns out the stadium hosting the convention was largely financed by the government. The Daily Dolt reports that the Tampa Bay Times Forum arena, which houses the Tampa Bay Lightning ice hockey team, was built in 1996 as the “Ice Palace”. The total budget for the project was $139m, of which $53m came from the team and $86m came from the government – that's 62% government funded.
