A new UN report lays bare the terrible suffering of children caught up in the Syrian conflict. Government troops have killed children and tortured them in detention, while the opposition Free Syrian Army has used them in medical and other jobs on the front line of the fighting. Radhika Coomaraswamy, the secretary general's Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, told the BBC she had never seen a situation before in which children were not spared, and were even targeted: "We also heard of children [...] being put on tanks and being used as human shields so that the tanks would not be fired upon".
Fresh atrocities are reported nearly every day, yet some companies (Exhibit A: Russian state-owned Rosoboronexport), continue to sell arms to Syria. Today, Avaaz is singling Rosoboronexport out for public shame at the Eurosatory arms fair in Paris.
Take action: Join Avaaz's call to the US and India to cancel all contracts with Rosoboronexport until it halts all weapons sales to Syria.
