Saudi religious police are no match for this brave woman. Armed with a smartphone, she confronts officials from the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice and threatens to expose them on Twitter and Facebook. The video has had nearly a million views and 12,000 comments – most of them, sadly, taking the side of the police.
In April, the new head of the religious police, Sheikh Abdullatif Abdel Aziz al-Sheikh, told his officials to stop "harassing" people, and warned of "decisive measures" against violators. The message clearly hasn't got through to a lot of people: but is this woman's courageous act of defiance a sign that change is on the way?
